The QuickBooks Desktop connector must be downloaded and run on the same computer where QuickBooks Desktop is installed. If in doubt, the user connecting their company data should use the computer they normally use when working with QuickBooks Desktop.
Before starting the linking process, the user must open QuickBooks Desktop and log in to the company they wish to link.
The first step is for the user to download the connector from the QuickBooks Desktop Set-up screen in Re-Leased. Access this screen by going to Settings > Manage Add-ons and Integrations > QuickBooks Desktop > Enable QuickBooks Desktop Add-on.
The connector is a .exe file and is also signed using an Extended Validation Code Signing Digital Certificate issued by Global Sign to increase trust when downloading.
2. Launch the connector and enter the license key
Run the downloaded file to start the connector and enter their license key. The license key is displayed on the QuickBooks Desktop Set-up screen in Re-Leased.
Select which region you are in (either Canada or US) and confirm the data is verified. Click Next
4. Verify the connection
Select Verify
In QuickBooks, you'll be prompted to allow the application to read and modify the QuickBooks company file. Any of the Yes options allow the connector to work, but we suggest choosing to Allow access even if QuickBooks is not running for the best experience.
Options may vary between QuickBooks versions but are similar to:
- No
- Yes, prompt each time
- Yes, whenever this QuickBooks company file is open
- Yes, always; allow access even if QuickBooks is not running.
In all cases, we recommend choosing the option that allows the most access to QuickBooks so that you can sync data as easily as possible.
Setting up multiple QuickBooks Desktop companies
Multiple companies can be synced from the same computer. If you would like to sync multiple companies: complete this flow once per company, ensuring that you are logged in to the correct QuickBooks company when confirming that QuickBooks is open and logged in.
