Re-Leased highly recommends implementing two-factor authentication (2FA) as one of the best ways to secure your property management software. While passwords are commonly used for user verification, they are susceptible to cyberattacks such as phishing and password spray. By enabling 2FA, you ensure that there are at least two verification factors in place, making it harder for potential attackers to gain access to your systems and cause significant financial or operational harm.
In this Knowledge Base article, we will provide you with a comprehensive step-by-step guide to how you can get started on enabling 2FA by using an authenticator app on your account and generating your recovery codes today.
Getting started

Step 1
To set up two-factor authentication, click on your profile picture and select My Account.
Step 2
On your account page, navigate to Security tab and click Set up now.
Step 3
If you already have an authenticator app on your mobile device, open the app and scan the barcode displayed on the screen, or enter the code provided under the QR code.
If you don't have an authenticator app already, we recommend installing one of the following options:
Here's a video on how the Authy authenticator app works.
We also recommend all Authy users activate the multi-device and backup features provided by Authy. This will allow you to configure several devices (PC, laptop, mobile etc) to access your Authy account and ensure that security tokens are synchronized across these devices. Step 4
Once you have an authenticator app installed, use the app to scan the barcode on screen. A pin code will display in the authenticator app for you to then enter in the field shown in Re-Leased.
Step 5
Once you have scanned the barcode, select Confirm and Enable Two-Factor Authentication to complete set up.
When the authenticator app has been successfully set up you will see a new tile called Smartphone app.
Generating recovery codes
After setting up 2FA on your account, make sure to create and store your recovery codes in a safe place. These codes can be used to log in to your account if you lose access to your phone or other authentication device.
Please download, print or copy your new recovery codes and save them somewhere safe before continuing.
Regenerating recovery codes
Keep your recovery codes private and do not share them with others as they can be used to access your account without 2FA. If you use a recovery code to log in, be sure to generate a new set afterwards by navigating to Manage Two-Factor Authentication Methods page again and clicking Regenerate Recovery Codes.
Please download, print or copy your new recovery codes and save them somewhere safe before continuing.
